If you book a trip with us, it is mandatory to take out travel insurance in your country.
To take out good international travel insurance can be done at any time before your departure. With travel insurance, you are insured for financial damage during your trip. Think of loss of or damage to your luggage, unexpected medical costs and unforeseen expenses. The latter can occur, for example, in the event of delays or when you unexpectedly have to return to your homeland. The international travel insurance covers the extra costs, if the healthcare costs at the destination are higher.

Mongolian Highland specializes in tailor-made individual travel. Due to high demand, we have been offering a number of small group tours since 2010. One special interest tour is Shamanic Rituals package, of which destinations can be reached by a variety of transportation such as domestic flight, van, and a horse heading to Taiga – Dukha community.
There are numerous adjustment possibilities. The route, the duration of the trip, guide and driver, the type of transport (4×4 wheel jeep, private van, horse, camel, yak, reindeer), the quality of the accommodations (tent, local small-scale hotels, more luxurious hotels), the optional activities, your free days. By consulting with our local travel expert, you can create a trip according to your wishes and budget.
After your travel request, our travel expert will contact you within two working days. Our experts will send you a travel proposal or ask you for further information. We will usually answer other emails you send immediately. Also, you can use WhatsApp or Viber. Please, consider that our travel experts are on site at different destinations, so you also have to deal with a time difference. This may possibly take a little longer.
As for a single supplement, our travel expert knows whether it is possible, if you wish, to share part of your trip with other (international) travellers. Our small group tours, walking, hiking, meditating, and shamanic rituals, are very suitable for solo travellers.

It is not mandatory to give a tip, but if you are satisfied, we recommend that you do so, especially as a token of appreciation, as a thank you for the service provided. A few dollars a day do not make much difference to us, on the spot often an entire family has to survive on the salary of a guide or driver.
The safety of customers and staff is always our top priority. Our local travel experts continuously monitor the safety situation at all our destinations. Mongolian Highland cooperates with the National Insurance company to provide safe and better service. You can find it on our footage.
Check that your booking is correct and that all names are spelled correctly. If something is wrong, let our travel expert know immediately. If you want to change the trip after the final booking, this is possible. In consultation with our local travel expert, the possibilities will be examined. We will charge change costs for this. In addition to these change costs, cancellation costs may be added.
Payment in advance and full version
The deposit must be received in our account within 7 days, stating your invoice number. You transfer the remainder to us 8 weeks before departure. We will send payment information 9 weeks before your departure. If you book less than 8 weeks before departure, the deposit will be forfeited and you will transfer the entire travel sum to us immediately.
Flights and train tickets
You have the freedom to book your own tickets. We will provide domestic airlines and other necessary logistics for you. Our travel specialist will ensure a good connection to your travel plan after receiving your international flight details.
Accommodation and transportation availability
Please, note that our travel specialist can only make a definitive reservation at the time of booking. It can sometimes happen that an accommodation is not available, especially in July, the peak season. In that case, alternative options will be used or a price change will take place. The same applies to transportations. We are open to discuss with you in any circumstances.
Adventure travels in distant lands
In faraway countries people have different customs and habits and a different mentality. Due to the different culture, diversity, and Central Asian tradition, there would definitely be a new experience and adventure during your tour. As a result, things sometimes go differently than you expect. Choosing an adventurous trip means choosing a certain risk. The local circumstances at the destinations and the adventurous nature of the trips may force us to adjust the trip. If we, or our local agents, have to resort to alternatives, you can rest assured that we will try to maintain or even improve the quality of the trip as much as possible.
Passports, visas and health
On our website we provide general information about passports, visas and health. You are responsible for having a valid passport and any necessary visas on departure and during the trip. You must also check in good time whether the information previously obtained is correct. Different countries have different advice and regulations in the field of health. We are not medically trained and are not allowed to make official statements about this. You must also ensure that you have the necessary vaccinations and prophylaxis in good time before the trip.
Cancellation Policy
After you have booked a trip, it may happen that you have to cancel or interrupt your trip. Mongolian Highland will then charge you cancellation costs. We use cancellation conditions that are specifically tailored to our orchestration.
In case of cancellation, each traveler owes the following amounts:
At least 45 days before the departure date of the chosen trip, the cancellation costs amount to 20% of the travel sum.
From 14 to 45 days before the departure date of the chosen trip, the client owes an amount of 50% of the travel sum.
From 7 to 14 days before the departure date of the chosen trip, the client owes an amount of 75% of the travel sum.
From 0 to 7 days before the departure date of the chosen trip, we will charge 100% of the travel sum.
If domestic flights are included in the booking, 100% of the flight price will be charged regardless of the moment of cancellation. A number of destinations also have 100% cancellation costs for certain components, such as train tickets, hotel reservations, and permits for the State Protected Area. Since these differ per destination, our experts will specify these deviating items in the itinerary. For additional items such as service charge, 15% of the total sum of the tour package should remain in our bank account.
Cancellation of the travel agreement must always be done in writing (by letter or email). With cancellation insurance where you free yourself from these costs with a valid reason to cancel (at the discretion of the insurer).
Partial cancellation
If a trip is booked for multiple people and 1 or more people cancel, this is a partial cancellation. In the case of a partial cancellation, the remaining participants may have to pay additional costs, because the occupancy in the accommodation has changed and/or the fixed costs are divided among fewer people.
Cancellation policy for group travel
Due to the nature of the trips, different cancellation conditions apply to our group trips. At least 5 weeks before departure, we will decide whether the booked group trip has enough participants to take place. From 4 weeks before departure, a cancellation percentage of 100% therefore applies. However, if the minimum number of participants is not reached 5 weeks before departure, we will have to discuss the package rate with you depending on the number of already booked clients.

We invest an amount in projects for sustainable tourism, energy or biodiversity. The traveler does not pay anything extra for this. The certain amount depends on the number of travelers and should be spent to maintain eco tourism and local communities. We invest the proceeds in the energy transition and in the preservation of biodiversity.
